Who can see what

  • A shop sees its own requests, bookings and messages. Nobody else's.
  • A renter sees their own booking through a private link, or in their account if they have one.
  • The database itself checks who is asking on every read and write, so a mistake in one screen cannot show one shop another shop's records.
  • A shop can invite a helper to run bookings. A helper cannot change prices, money settings or who is on the team, and the database refuses it, not just the screen.

Money never passes through RentStand

Renters pay the shop directly, by the methods the shop accepts, such as e-transfer. RentStand records what was asked for and when each side says it was sent or received. There is no fee from RentStand on rentals.

Signing in

You sign in with a link sent to your email. Booking links are long, private and unguessable, and each one opens only its own booking.

The outside services we use

Running a website means renting a few things. These are the services that handle data for us:

ServiceWhat it does for RentStand
SupabaseThe database, file storage and sign-in links.
RailwayRuns the website.
ResendSends our email.
OpenStreetMapMap images, loaded straight to your browser.
TelnyxText messages, only to people who asked for them.
GeoapifyAddress suggestions while you type an address. Typing it in yourself always works.
OpenAIOnly if a shop chooses screenshot import: reads those screenshots to draft a listing. We do not keep them.
GoogleAnalytics and advertising only if you say yes to them. A shop's own Google Calendar only if the shop connects it.

We do not sell data, and nobody can buy their way into it.

Your data, your way out

  • A shop can export its listings, bookings and messages as spreadsheets at any time from Settings.
  • Anyone can delete their account from their account page. Your name and contact details are removed, and a shop's booking history is kept as a financial record.
